Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) will this week present a collection of material stating the facts of the genocide against Azerbaijanis carried out by Armenia over the years, ANAS history institute director who prepared this collection, MP Yagub Mahmudov told Trend on Tuesday.

He said a four-volume collection shows evidence of crimes of Armenia against the Azerbaijani people and documents about this were collected not only in Azerbaijan, but also in other countries.

Mahmudov, in particular, noted that the book gives the facts of the genocide committed against Azerbaijanis in Baku province by armed Armenian Dashnak gangs headed by Baku Commune chief Stepan Shaumyan in 1918, as well as in other regions of Azerbaijan.

The scientist said that in May 2010 the Institute of History and the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan established a special scientific investigative group for the detection and presentation to the investigation of the facts of genocide against Azerbaijanis.

The Gulistan and Turkmanchai treaties signed in 1813 and 1828 between the Russian Empire and Persia led to the separation of the Azerbaijani people and the seizure of its ancestral land. The mass resettlement of Armenians on Azerbaijani lands began.

In Erivan, Nakhchivan and Karabakh khanates Armenians, despite the fact they constituted a numerical minority in comparison with the Azerbaijanis have managed with the help of their patrons to achieve in these areas to create so-called 'Armenian administrative areas'.

That was the beginning of the occupation of Azerbaijani lands and the expulsion of the Azerbaijani population from these places, accompanied by mass murder.

"From this period promotion of the idea of a 'Greater Armenia' began. To this end, the history of the Armenian people and in general, the South Caucasus was distorted and falsified, large-scale plans for the occupation of Azerbaijani lands implemented.

Starting from March 30 up to April 3, 1918 the Baku Council of the armed Armenian Dashnak bands carried out the massacre of Azerbaijanis in Baku province, as well as in Shamakhi, Guba, Khachmaz, Lankaran, Hajigabul, Salyan, Zangezur, Karabakh and Nakhchivan regions. According to official data, about 12,000 Azerbaijanis were killed with tens of thousands still missing.
