American newspaper The Hill publishes article devoted to Khojaly genocide

The Hill newspaper, published in Washington, DC, has published an extensive article of the co-founder and member of the Board of Directors of the U.S. Azeris Network Adil Bagirov, devoted to Khojaly genocide, the State Committee for Work with the Diaspora told Trend on Friday.

The article, titled 'Khojaly Massacre deserves recognition' is placed under the Congress section. The article provides detailed information for American readers on the murder of 613 people by Armenian forces within one night. This massacre is known as the biggest war crime in Europe.

The author expressed his concern over the fact that the perpetrators of this tragedy are still unpunished.

Then Adil Bagirov pointed to the petition posted on January 26 at the White House's 'We the People' website, gathering 125,000 signatures in a short time, calling on the Obama administration to commemorate the war crime of Khojaly.

According to the author, many factors have to coerce President Obama to take this step. Azerbaijan has long cooperated with the U.S. in Kosovo, as well as in Iraq and Afghanistan, and is located on strategically and economically important territory.

In addition, the Czech Republic, Germany, Pakistan, Colombia and Mexico have officially recognized and commemorated Khojaly on a legislative level. Moreover, eight U.S. states have recognized and commemorated the Khojaly Massacre since 2010.

The Hill newspaper has the largest circulation in Washington. The newspaper has a website and 11 blogs on specific political and strategic issues.
