AZAL enters list of leading airlines

Nowadays, the fear of flying is a major obstacle for people to desire to travel domestically and abroad. Although, plane travel is statistically safer than driving, people cannot but stay nervous during the flight. It seems that only highly trained flight service staff can somehow calm down passengers.

That is why the in-flight safety and service quality gains special focus for passengers when choosing airlines.

Azerbaijan state airlines AZAL, one of the most reliable airlines in the region, has entered the club of companies offering highly-rated services.

AZAL was awarded with a prestigious ‘4 Star’ rating out of five from the leader in air transit research, world-famous British consulting company Skytrax.

This global award included AZAL in a ranking of well-known global carriers like Emirates, Air France, Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines, KLM, British Airways, Japan Airlines and others.

The current rating of Skytrax shows that 35 airlines at present have been granted a 4-star rating.

AZAL was awarded the status based on the results of independent international audit of Skytrax, which assessed the airline's quality and level of services.

Until recently, there was only one 4-Star carrier registered among the countries of Eastern Europe and the CIS.

The airlines rating by Skytrax is measured on a scale ranging from 1 star to 5 stars, and is recognized by the aviation community as an unbiased and indisputable criterion in rating service quality.

As a regional and CIS leader in terms of its number of new aircrafts, Azerbaijan Airlines offer its passenger flights to European countries, the CIS, the Middle East, Asia and the U.S.

Before awarding AZAL, independent international judged the company based on more than 800 criteria covering service quality and staff work standards.

Components such as an airline's website, convenience of online booking, and other services that are important from the point of passengers, were scrutinized.

Detailed assessments were also made into the cabin's condition, its design and cleanness, on-board entertainment, crew uniforms, the crew's interactions with passengers, as well as operating efficiency.

Moreover, such issues as duty free service, aircraft log book contents, quality of on-board catering, and seat comfort were also examined.

The Azerbaijani national carrier was also nominated for Skytrax agency's “World Airline Awards” in the category of "World Airline that achieved most progress", taking its place of honor among such global carriers as Air France and Delta Air Lines.

The news about the 4-Star rating was especially well received having been in the midst of a heavy travel period of athletes and tourists who have come to witness and participate in the first European Games.

This distinction is evidence of the laborious daily work of the entire AZAL team and its commitment to constant and tireless efforts to improve the quality of services.

The company has many modern aircraft that meet all safety requirements. Currently, AZAL's fleet includes the Boeing B-787-8, Boeing 757-200, Boeing 767-300, Airbus 319, Airbus A320, Airbus A340-500, Embraer ERJ 170-100LR and Embraer ERJ 190-100.

AZAL is also training the high profile pilots, crew members, and ground personnel in its modern aviation training center founded in 2010.

International recognition of AZAL’s safety performance provides the airline with a higher status in both domestic and international air service.

The company successfully completed a safety audit under the International Air Transport Association in 2008, and become a full-fledged member in the community of the world’s safest airlines.

In spite of all the achievements, Azerbaijan Airlines personnel continue working hard to further improve the airline’s safety performance, flight frequency, culture, quality of passenger services, and the overall image of the airline in the eyes of the world and the aviation community.
