AZAL receives second Dreamliner

Azerbaijan received its second Boeing B-787-8 Dreamliner airplane on December 25.

787 is a family of high-tech and ultra-efficient aircraft with new features that allow passengers to get a good impression of flight.

“In addition to the possibility of using the liner middle dimension on long-haul routes, 787 AZAL will provide unsurpassed fuel efficiency and environmental performance by reducing fuel consumption and emissions by 20 percent compared with the aircraft, which 787 model will replace,” Boeing company said.

The first Boeing 787 Dreamliner airplane was received to Baku on December 23.

AZAL’s staff instruction on operating the new Boeing B-787-8 will be completed within the next two months, after which the aircraft will begin to provide services to passengers.

At the initial stage the airplane will carry out flights from Baku to Peking, London and other European countries. In summer 2015 AZAL will use the airplane for flights Baku-New York .

“Before the start of flights over the ocean, AZAL will conduct trainings as part of the additional requirements the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration.

As a regional and CIS leader in terms of the number of new aircrafts, AZAL, Azerbaijan's biggest airline and national flag carrier, offers its passenger flights to European countries, the CIS, Middle East, Asia and the United States.

Currently, AZAL's fleet consists of Boeing 757-200, Boeing 767-300, Airbus 319, Airbus A320, Airbus A340-500, Embraer ERJ 170-100LR and Embraer ERJ 190-100. The company cooperates with about 60 airlines to provide its passengers with an opportunity to travel leisurely around the world.

In 2015-2016 Azerbaijani cargo airline Silk Way Cargo - a subsidiary of Silk Way Airlines plans to buy 3 airliners Boeing 747-8.
