Azerbaijan and Turkey change procedure for social protection cooperation

Baku, Fineko/ Ministers of Labour & Social Protection of Azerbaijan and Turkey signed a protocol in Baku yesterday at the VII session of the Standing Joint Commission for Social Protection Cooperation.

The protocol says of cooperation in the sphere of social protection, employment, migration, health and safety, labor inspection, development of professional standards, staff training, services to citizens living abroad, cooperation within international organizations, etc.

"Azerbaijan and Turkey have developed close relations in all spheres. Despite the situation on world markets, both countries retained stability and strong relationships in all areas due timely measures taken by the Heads of State," said Fizuli Alakbarov, Minister of Labour & Social Protection of Azerbaijan, after the protocol signing ceremony.

According to Alakbarov, the meeting participants discussed the objectives covered by the Protocol of the VI session of the Standing Commission (Ankara, 17 May 2010), as well as the work already done.

"In the near future we will develop new procedural treaty to the Intergovernmental Agreement on Social Protection and submit it to the Turkish side," Alakbarov said.

In turn, Turkish Minister of Labour & Social Protection Farcot Celik said that during his visit to Azerbaijan he raised all the possible problems of cooperation in the sphere of social protection, as well as ways of their solution.

"I want to underline that the Turkish government is fully committed to support cooperation with Azerbaijan and is taking all measures to realize the set tasks," Celik said.
