A European university will open in Batumi, Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili said on Tuesday in Batumi following the conference "European Way of Georgia - The European Union and its European neighbors."
He said the decision was made during the conference.
"It will be a full-fledged European university, where representatives of the EU will study, European professors will teach and where European education will be given with subsequent employment opportunities in the EU," Saakashvili said.
The President of Georgia underlined that there is only one such university at present - in Bruges in Belgium. "This is a very important decision, because Georgia should become a regional leader in the field of education," he said.
During today's conference, Saakashvili said, a decision was made on involvement of the Erasmus for Partnership member countries that will enable Georgian students to study at universities in Europe.
