The Khojaly Massacre: 20 Years Later

February 23, 2012

It has been 20 years since the tragedy in Khojaly, the village in Nagorno Karabakh where 613 innocent Azeris were slaughtered, yet the wounds still remain fresh in the minds of Azeris.  This week, the Alliance pauses to remember the victims of Khajoly and to honor their memory by re-doubling efforts to achieve peace.  Click here to learn about Commemorating Khojaly around the world.

The Alliance has launched a full-scale public education campaign to raise awareness of what happened in Khajoly and the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.  And we are mobilizing Americans to call for changes in U.S. policy to strengthen the Azerbaijan-American partnership and bring peace to Nagorno-Karabakh.

Please get involved! Click here to learn about our campaign to urge Congress to rescind the unfair, irrational ban on direct aid to the Government of Azerbaijan (Section 907 of the Freedom Support Act).  You can also ask President Obama and Secretary Clinton to play a much more active role in resolving to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
